Crestor (Rosuvastatin) is a statin medication used to treat high cholesterol in patients with a cholesterol-lowering effect. It belongs to a class of drugs known as “bad- LDL,” which is a combination of your heart muscle cells and liver cells. Lowering cholesterol can help prevent heart disease and prevent heart attacks. Crestor works by reducing the amount of “bad- HMG-CoA-reductase” in the bloodstream. It lowers cholesterol by blocking a enzyme (LDL) that is responsible for breaking down HMG-CoA-3 (three or four times more than cholesterol). Lowering cholesterol also helps prevent heart disease and helps lower blood pressure. For example, lowering LDL cholesterol 3%–5% from the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) can reduce your risk of heart disease and other heart problems. In addition, statins can help lower high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels (especially in people with high-density lipoprotein (““HDL”) deposits) in the spine and thyroid gland. Crestor lowers LDL (“bad- Hb”) by blocking HMG-CoA-2 (see Cholesterol-lowering effects and uses below). It also reduces the amount of “bad-Hb” (“bad-LDL”) in the blood (e.g., by reducing “bad-LDL” "bad”). Lowering cholesterol also helps prevent cardiovascular diseases in people with high homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (“FH-D”) or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (“FH-Hb”).1

Crestor can help lower high-density lipoprotein (“C-D”) levels by inhibiting phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5), an enzyme that restricts blood flow in the blood vessels that carry blood to and from the penis.2

In people with type 2 diabetes, Crestor reduces blood sugar levels by acting on the insulin-like growth factor binding protein—a protein produced in the pancreas. High levels of insulin in the blood cause the body to produce more thyroid hormone, which can slow the growth of tumors called hormone receptor-positive hormoneomas. High levels of thyroid hormone in the blood cause the body to produce more “bad- Hb” (“bad-LDL”) "bad” (“bad”) cholesterol, which can lower blood sugar. High levels of “bad-Hb” "bad” cholesterol can also raise high-density lipoprotein (“HDL" "high-density” "high”) levels by reducing “bad-Hb” "bad” cholesterol deposits in the spine,5 or in people with high homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (“FH-D”) or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (“FH-Hb”).3

Crestor also lowers LDL ("bad" or “bad”-LHD) by blocking an enzyme in the liver (L-thyroxine-binding globulin (LTBg)) that is normally synthesized by the liver. When Crestor is used to lower LDL ("bad" or "bad"-LHD) levels in people with type 2 diabetes, it helps reduce blood sugar levels by reducing the amount of "bad" “bad” "good” cholesterol (“good” "bad” "strength” cholesterol) in the blood.4

Crestor also can help control blood pressure by lowering high-density lipoprotein (“HDL” "high-density" "high" "high") by decreasing inflammation in the brain,5 spinal cord, and kidneys. It also can lower high-density lipoprotein ("HDL" "low-density" "high" "high") by reducing the “bad" cholesterol deposits in the spine,5 or in people with high homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (“FH-Hb”).

I was prescribed Crestor 40 mg and my cholesterol went from 300 to 600/10 mg and my blood sugar went from normal to high. I took it for about 4 years and my cholesterol went from 155 to 200/10. I have been very satisfied with this medication and I would recommend it to anyone.

Condition: High Cholesterol

I took this medication 2 years ago and had my cholesterol checked. I am now taking 20 mg of it and have to take a 40 mg tablet. I have had very bad headaches and have had some to stop the headaches. It is also very difficult to get my cholesterol back. I have been on it for 6 months now and have a good diet and exercise. It is working, but I am having trouble with my cholesterol levels. I think the bad side effects are from the drug and it's not working. I would not recommend it to anyone.Read MoreRead Less

I have been taking it for years. My cholesterol went from 250/10 to 190/10. I have been on 20 mg for 6 years. I was able to have a low fat diet that was easy to incorporate and a healthy exercise routine. I went through the drug test with my doctor and they told me that it was a good thing it is working and my cholesterol went from 190/10 to 200/10. I had been taking it for years. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol but the medication was not working and my cholesterol went from 190/10 to 200/10. I have also had some other side effects that were very bad and I would like to know what else I can do. I have had to stop taking the cholesterol medication and have been taking the statin for years. I don't have any problems with the medication but I want to make sure my cholesterol is working and I am not having to stop taking it. I am going to have to go back to the doctor and see what the results are. If I am going to continue with this medication, I am going to start the statin and see what happens. I am so scared that I will not be able to keep taking it again.

I have been taking this medicine for several years and have been very happy with my results. The cholesterol is very good and the blood sugar is low. I am not sure whether it works or not but I am sure it is working. I have tried the medication before and have had many adverse reactions. My doctor has recommended I try another statin. I am very concerned about my cholesterol and want to find out more about what is going on. My cholesterol levels have been very bad but I am on Crestor and the only side effects I have are very bad and I will continue to take this medication for the rest of my life.

I have been on this medication for almost a year. I was taking it for two years. I had some side effects. The first one was my bad memory. My doctor said that it can be an allergen and I have to take it for the rest of my life. I have been taking it for several years. The side effects I had were very bad and I have had several other side effects that I have had in the past. I had a blood work and blood sugar tests and I was getting very low and the cholesterol is very bad. I am scared that I will not be able to keep taking it again.
